About ICWC

ICWC is an Iowa City based open media platform. Anyone from the community can use the website as a place to talk about their own opinions or whatever they may be passionate about. A lot of what is on this website is culture related with people discussing things such as music, film, and other forms of art. We also have a focus on community news letting the people who are personally affected by things express their own voice.

In so many other media spaces there are economic and hierarchical boundaries that keep people from speaking about their own personal interests. We have no outright profit incentive. We see this website between staffers and editors as a unilateral structure. In no circumstances should the work of others be negated because of the personal whims of a few people who want to flex their own power, ambivalent to the state of things. People do not need to have years of experience or need to be in the university or other institution to participate.

As a platform we stand against all forms of bigotry and inequality, and will do whatever we can to help remove it.

It's a space for anyone to be creative and put their ideas out into the world.
